Benefits of parent counseling

  • Look, I get it, when your child(ren) doesn’t listen the frustration is overwhelming! You go from trying to be a calm and gentle parent, to raising your voice and spewing punishments. We are not perfect people, despite my training I still struggle at times. But it does not have to be like this, I am here to listen. I will take the time to gain a full understanding of what is taking place so that I may provide you with the support and guidance you deserve. When you are ready to be heard, I am hear to listen.

  • After the relief you feel from being heard and understood (without back talk), we will move into building effective skills. Although many skills can generally be applied in all situations, I will also provide the necessary skills for your unique situation. These skills will target: negative behaviors, communication, relationship building, and confidence.

  • Before I was a parent, there were things I swore I would do better than what I experienced. Once becoming a parent, I found myself feeling terrible and a failure because I engaged in those behaviors. A recent training taught me that I was not to blame, that when I act outside my values it is a result of my sensory memories. Now I have used this training to reteach myself and find my inner strength that makes me an excellent parent. Working with me I will guide you on this same path, and lead you towards assertively communicating with your family. With a heavy focus on building your self-confidence

  • Building connections as a parent is difficult, but essential to your child and your own social development. Fears of being judged, being unable to provide the same level, or not being as involved are often the root causes of parents not building connections. However, when parents do reach out to one another, they find that they are not so different. By sharing their concerns they are able to find and provide support. This is why I provide both individual and group therapy sessions. For parents to connect, understand the struggles, celebrate the triumphs, problem-solve together, and feel truly supported. Parents find solace with me by being understood, validated, and empowered throughout their parenting journey. Working together we can build connections that nurture growth, build resilience, and find harmony within your family.

  • How many times have you felt you finally found the solution to a behavior, then suddenly it has no effect? Sadly, it often comes down to consistency, one of the most difficult factors to maintain in the hectic life of a parent. That is why I provide the safe space for you to discuss your schedule, limitations, barriers, and feelings around utilizing skills. We will work together to simplify strategies to meet your lifestyle, providing the effective skill needed for positive change. You will feel empowered and confident in being able to adapt strategies independently once our time is done. You will have all of the tools, confidence, and support needed to help your family thrive through every stage.
